What does Ontario’s energy regulator really think about community energy?

This letter from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) responds to community input on its electricity planning for the Greater Ottawa Region. OREC—the Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-operative—participated in this consultation to push for smarter, community-based energy solutions like solar, battery storage, and non-wired alternatives. It also gives you a window into competing interests from other stakeholders such as Enbridge Gas.

We’re sharing this document to highlight how our advocacy is helping to shape the conversation—and to show how close we are to making local, sustainable energy a bigger part of Ottawa’s future.

The response for your V2G advocacy was terrible. It is being successfully implemented in other jurisdictions. The IESO put forward excuses not viable reasons.
